The things I do at work and home...

Hahaha...very long never update liao...recently kinda busy with work so not much time to blog.
AT WORK!!!
I have now been shifted from the marketing department to the administration department and so, I use the company's computer. The whole administration department has only one person and for now, its me....and so, I am a department by myself! hahaha...I am still under the marketing department and I have to do up the work given to me but now, I have additional administration roles to undertake such as picking up calls
Standard greeting:
上午/下午/晚上好,SRE,有什么我可以帮您吗?____________________________________________________________________
And usually, I only need to transfer the call, by saying: '你要找COCO是吧, 请稍等一下。haha... most of the time, they look for her.
The worst part is having to take a message down, I can't even understand our typical singaporean chinese, what more cheena chinese...haiz...

When Steven (our boss) is around, I make him coffee, Receipe:
1) 2 scoops of coffee powder
2) 3 and a 1/2 scoops of milk powder
3) 2 cubes of sugar
4) Pour in extra hot water till the cup is 5/6 full
5) Stir properly
6) Hold by the handle, knock on his door, put it on his coaster and the job is done!
hahaha...typical office girl work!

AT HOME!!!
The weekday morning routine:
6.30am- Siqian's handphone alarm, 'Whineup', goes off: "Its Summer Time!" Siqian and I wake up and go back to sleep.
6.30am- The alarm goes off again, Siqian wakes up and goes to bathe.
6.45am- Siqian is done and she starts her make-up process while Sean goes to bathe.
7.00am- Sean is done by then. Siqian's is on her eye-liner stage.
7.15am- Siqian's hairdryer goes on and Rachel is woken up by the sound and goes to bathe.
7.35am- Rachel finishes and Siqian has already changed into her clothes. By then, if Hongyi does not wake up, Siqian comes with her 'bolster' to attack him. When he wakes up, Siqian will ask him: ' what must you tell me?' and Hongyi will reply: ' i dun wan to go to work today.' (*reason: Hongyi says that every morning!)
7.45am- Afterwhich, Sean and Siqian goes to work, Rachel sends them off and prepare small breakfast if there is food (fruits eggs, bread etc) in the house for both Hongyi and herself to eat.
7.55am- Eat breakfast if there is food, if not, slowly change into work clothes and pack bag.
8.10am- Off to work!
____________________________________________________________________
Hahaha... in Shanghai, we have different roles and job scopes too:
Rachel: Financial Manager (count money and do up accounting), House Manager (helps in housework)
Hongyi: Rachel and Pearleen's image consultant, Tour guide.
Siqian: Rachel and Pearleen's image consultant.
Sean: No specific role yet.

The golden week>>>Part 2

FRIDAY
After we came back from hangzhou, our holiday did not just end there...haha, the next day, i met up with Jun Xian (our mentoring president!) and we ate at Babela (China's version of Pizza hut that tastes really good) I ate like 2 plates of pasta...Super duper hungy that day and after that, I gained a kilo...haha...Later on, i met up with Hongyi, Sean, Xueer and Roseann for lunch at Ikea (i had already eaten mine at Babela) and the hotdog buns there were super cheap! oni 3 yuan(60Cents sing) but not as nice and the ice-cream was oni 1 yuan (20 cents sing)! We later went to the arcade and we played monopoly there! the arcades monopoly is really fun and to play the games there, all you need is about 2 tokens, 20 cents per token and you can play!

Haha...their arcade's drum machine uses real drums!!!>>>>

Later, I went to join Siqian and Pearleen at the Hong Kong Cafe (where California fitness was) and ate this....

牛肉蛋炒饭And My favourite>>>>>Peanut Shaved Ice>>>>>!

I kinda look tired rite? well, after that i went home to grab a short nap because....we were going to sing KTV at 1 am!!!(the rates are 1/2 price at this time, oni $3 per hour each). so, we went! hahaha...and this was how the streets looked like at night!

Those 3 are not ghosts>>>>Sean, Siqian and Hongyi

SATURDAY
By the time i slept, it was already 5.20am!!! I must be crazy and out of my head...anyway, the next day, we all slept till 12 and I went to the supermarket to buy groceries as we were gonna cook lunch that day! Hongyi had already gotten chicken marinated and he was gonna cook chicken curry and prata! as for me, i bought cabbage from the super market and the ingredients needed. My cabbage turned out fine (thanks to my mother's teaching and oyster sauce) and his curry turned out good! I also made potato salad later during the day...hahaha...

Cooking Up a STORM!!!!>>>>>>My Vegetables!>>>>>

Hongyi's Curry! He brought over the seasoning from Sg>>>>>Plaster!!!>>>>>>
Our Masterpiece!!!>>>>TADA!
We oni went out during the night for dinner at KFC nearby our area and their egg tarts are delicious!

SUNDAY
I was super happy that I got to play badminton!!! Finally!.... I did not play well though...haha...(can't be bothered, can play good enough already)...Jasmine and her uncle played well and hahaha...Hongyi was rather clumsy (first timer).

I later went to shower at Jasmine's house and her uncle was kind enough to treat us to lunch after that...and we ate until we were all very full lah!

This pic oni got 2 dishes, there was 3 others!>>>>>

I left for church later and the pastor spoke on Ephsians 2 vs 8 onwards and the verse that spoke to me that day was :' For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.' I had memorized this verse since i was primary 5 but yet, most of the time, I kinda forget that we are made and shaped by God for a reason, to do good works!

haha....that's the end of my golden week holiday>>>>

Back to work

ok, end of holidae but,...the fun has just begun! just this tuesday, we met up with Roseann, Jasmine and Pearleen for dinner at the Shanghai cultural street and i introduced them to Babela to eat, the food is really good and cheap!

Encounters of Shanghai...

Well, its time for a little reflection...especially after so many things has happened. Here in Shanghai, I have experienced things here on this trip that most people would not get to experience. When I was informed of the OSIP trip this year, i saw this as an opportunity of a lifetime. I felt that it was something not to be missed because we get to work in a different environment, with different people, away from the comfort of home. I was always more of a home girl, who would be more family oriented and 'ignorant' about most things that goes on in the life of a 21st century teenager. Well, I am certainly more 'knowledgable' as I have been exposed to a lot down here. (I really mean a lot!)

Anyway, I happily applied for OSIP... and I was rather excited when I was selected to go to Shanghai. But then, I could not stay excited for long...I was feeling rather discouraged at that point in time. We were all busy handling up our projects, rushing for datelines and afterwhich, preparing for exams and then we are leaving already. It was all to fast for me and I was not emotionally prepared. People also constantly question me : why i chose to go? Since the pay is low, I have to fork out $1000 (while my frens in singapore earns $1400 per month) and opportunities to go to China are always available. So why go now?... Not to mention, I have to spend my birthday here, give my mom and dad's birthday a miss, leave my dad and 3 young brothers behind for 2 weeks alone at home, leave my mom to handle all the household chores by herself and not being able to give my bros emotional support when they are facing their final streaming exams. haha...you can tell from the sound of that how family oriented i am by nature.

Anyway, so these were certain obstacles that I had to get over and I am happy its over. haha...but this really reminds me of a verse in the Bible: 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.' and when the Bible says all things, it means ALL THINGS! haha...that's it for now!

The Golden Week -- Part 1>>>Hangzhou(3rd weekend)

Very long never blog liao...this time, i've got lots of things to show and more to say. The golden week has finally arrived after 7 days of continuous working non-stop...YES! Anyway, to cut the long story short, we managed to get train tickets to Hangzhou despite several hiccups and about 10 of us went...

Can you See the Crowd!>>>>>>
Briefing Time>>>>>Hongyi, calling me to come and listen instead of snapping away!
The Train>>>>>
We had first class seats>>>>
The 10 of us that went>>>>>First up, Sean>>>>
Xue Er and Yuko>>>>>
Poh Suan and Kenny>>>>>

Roseann And Pearleen>>>>>

Our Very own tour guide Hong yi>>>>>>>And Lastly, me and Siqian>>>>haiz, no one took picture for us so, we had to do it>>>>Although we had booked 4 hotel rooms b4 hand, we had no plans whatsoever and had no idea what to do or where to go. Nonetheless, the min we came out of the train station, we were greeted by a small tour agency and they offered to take us around for a day and help us book train tickets back to Shanghai for a rather good price. And so, we took them on...we checked into our hotel and rested b4 eating at 真功夫 and then going shopping in the evening.

BEDs>>>>>super hard>>>>>

Aircon does not work at all>>>>>Toilet>>>>>
The room maid>>>>>I mean room mate>>>>hahaha......Eating and Shopping, living the typical Singaporean lifestyle in a foreign land.>>>>>
Later that night, after we had finished shopping, we all gathered into one room to play 终极密码 and the loser, had to chose between truth or dare! haha...it was quite fun as we dug out each other's secrets! During the game, my big mouth suggested something rather stupid and I ended up being involved in a dare as well! haha...(for those of you curious to know, can ask me personally, but i wont blog about it...秘密!) we played for quite a while and by the time i slept, it was 4 am.

So you can see siqian sleeping on the bus on the way to Xihu (our first stop)>>>>>
I was super excited when i saw XiHu, West lake, it was indeed a splendid sight to behold and finally for the first time, I felt like I was in China. The pics below are insufficient in portraying what we had witnessed, so if you have time, go visit Xihu....

These pics were took the min we got there>>>>The only thing that spoiled it was the crowd!!!!...I mean, Xihu was a place where famous chinese poets got their inspiration, in the serenity of the surroundings, but the crowds just TOTALLY spoiled the 'ambience'! There is an appropriate chinese phrase that accurately describes the situation at that point in time... 人山人海!

We had to brush past everyone and we were inside this 'sea of people' for 1/2 hr>>>>>>

See the pink mouse? that is our tour group's flag>>>>>among the many other tour groups. We were actually queuing to get on a boat to go across Xihu, and we had 50 ppl in our tour group(including the 10 of us). And so, we finaly got on the boat, leaving so many others behind!

The lady in white is our tour guide>>> giving an explanation of the lake's history>>> When we had cruised one round around the lake and came back, we continued to explore the area and took some pictures.

Bridge>>>>>Siqian, Me and Pearleen>>>>

Acting Emo>>>>>>
We then left Xihu and headed for another place, I can't really remember what is the place called...>>>>and we took

The 10 of us, group pic>>>>>

4 of us retail kids, graduates of year 2009, batch no 2>>>>>>

Haha...anyway, we later visited another place (of which i aso dun remember what it is called). This place is known for its buddhism heritage(i think) and also, the chinese culture.A bit further inside, we we allowed access to this tunnel where even the ground was made of gold! and so, we had to wear plastic bags and pull it over our shoes so as not to dirty the floor>>>

The funny thing is...someone was wearing this plastic thingy at People's square Mrt station, (where there were lots of people )to prevent his shoes from getting wet and he was also in his formal wear that day!>>>>

Next up, we went to a silk factory>>>>>the lady there was doing a demonstration for us to help us identify the difference between real silk and fake silk. she even burned a small corner off the silk to prove her point!

And then, visit a tea plantation and drink tea!>>>>>>
That's about all i have to blog with regards to the hangzhou trip and this last pic I took was of the 9 of my frens, who have shared these special moments with me and made them memorable. Thanks guys!>>>>>

End of Hangzhou Trip>>>>>
